The AEMC CA846 Thermo-Hygrometer with Max/Hold Functions is a compact thermo-hygrometer designed for one-handed operation with a temperature range of -4 to +140 degrees F (-20 to +60 degrees C) and resolution of 0.1 F/C, and a humidity range of 0 to 100% relative humidity (RH) and resolution of 0.1% RH. It uses a resistance temperature detector (RTD) Pt385/1000 ohm temperature sensor with an accuracy of + or - 2 degrees F between -4 and 32 degrees F (+ or - 1 degree C between -20 and 0 degrees C) and + or - 1 degree F between 32 and 140 degrees F (+ or - 0.5 degree C between 0 and 60 degrees C). The hygrometer uses a thin-film polymer capacitive-type humidity sensor which offers quick recovery from 100% moisture, fast response time, and durability, with an accuracy of + or - 2.5% RH at 25 degrees C between 10 and 90% RH and + or - 5% at 25 degrees C between 0 and 10% RH and between 90 and 100% RH. The operating temperature is 32 to 122 degrees F (0 to 50 degrees C) at 80% RH and storage temperature is -4 to +140 degrees F (-20 to 60 degrees) at 80% RH with the battery removed. It has max and hold functions as well as a 3-1/2 digit backlit LCD which provides readability in low-light conditions. This hygrometer uses a 9V battery (included) and comes with a removable protective sensor cover and a shockproof, dirt-resistant protective holster. Applications for this hygrometer include greenhouses, HVAC installation and maintenance, office environments, labs, environmental studies, weather monitoring, and food distribution. The meter measures 6.81 x 2.38 x 1.5 inches/173 x 60.5 x 28 mm (H x W x D) and weighs approximately 6.2 oz./175 g including the battery. (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.)
Hygrometers measure the moisture content, or humidity, in the environment, either as relative humidity (percentage of moisture in the air) or as absolute humidity (amount of moisture in the air). Some hygrometers can also measure temperature, dew point, and pressure. Handheld hygrometers are compact devices that use attached probes to take measurements and have a digital screen to report measurements. Other hygrometers utilize transmitters to send measurements from probes placed in ducts or outside environments to an output device; one example of this type is a weather forecasting hygrometer. Hygrometers are used in laboratories, storage areas, greenhouses, saunas, humidors, industrial and residential settings, and museums. Hygrometers can form part of devices called humidistats to help control humidifiers or dehumidifiers to regulate the humidity of the air.
AEMC Instruments manufactures electrical testing and measurement instruments, including clamp meters, power quality analyzers, ground resistance testers, and data loggers. The company, founded in 1893, is headquartered in Foxborough, MA.
